Position Summary
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing materials, supplies, services, and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) in a timely manner while ensuring cost-effectiveness to meet customer commitments and achieve company key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with suppliers to gather product and service details, including pricing, availability, and delivery timelines.
- Collect quotations, assess bids, review contracts, negotiate pricing and terms within budgetary constraints, and provide recommendations for contract awards.
- Make informed purchasing decisions, implement corporate sourcing strategies, and ensure adherence to all procurement protocols.
- Timely and accurately input all requisitions and purchase orders into the system, ensuring precise orders are submitted to suppliers and obtaining written confirmations.
- Evaluate vendor performance regarding quality and delivery standards.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure budgetary goals are met while maintaining adequate inventory levels to support KPIs.
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels, preparing reports on excess and obsolete stock for management review.
- Maintain detailed procurement records of services and goods acquired, including costs, delivery schedules, and inventory data. Champion procurement reporting and metrics.
- Manage supplier relationships to meet expectations for pricing, delivery, and quality, escalating issues as necessary.
- Perform additional tasks that align with the role as required.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or a combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a procurement role, preferably within the manufacturing sector.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team; adaptable and eager to grow with the organization.
- Experience managing multiple vendors and projects in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP is advantageous.
