Overview

Key Responsibilities
This role operates as a Specialist within the Sex Offender Program (SOP) at a federal correctional facility. The primary duty involves delivering comprehensive psychological services to inmates enrolled in the SOP. The specialist is tasked with providing treatment and behavioral management services.

Services may be rendered within a residential treatment program or to inmates engaged in non-residential treatment or management services.

The specialist will assist in the administration, scoring, and interpretation of various assessment tools, including specialized instruments for sex offenders, under the guidance of a licensed psychologist.

Additionally, the role requires reviewing data from direct participant interviews and relevant records, contributing to reports for various purposes. These reports may include:

  • Behavioral management reports or plans to mitigate risks within the institution or community;
  • Discharge reports for offenders transitioning to the community;
  • Pre-certification reviews for inmates considered for certification as sexually dangerous individuals;
  • Clinical case management documentation for inmates involved in SOP components.

As with all staff members in correctional institutions, maintaining the security of the facility is a fundamental responsibility of this position.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: A degree with at least 24 semester hours in behavioral or social sciences, or a combination of education and experience equivalent to this requirement.
  • Experience: Relevant experience in casework within correctional settings, counseling, or treatment of individuals requiring social rehabilitation.

In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must possess:

  • Graduate education or specialized experience relevant to the position.
