Job Overview

Position Summary: The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indian is seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of a Childcare Worker. This position is vital in fostering a nurturing and educational environment for young children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and adhere to the daily educational framework within the classroom while organizing engaging activities.
  • Establish and sustain a developmentally suitable classroom atmosphere, ensuring effective organization of space and materials.
  • Complete necessary documentation and follow-up tasks as required.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to address the diverse needs of children.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development, completing a minimum of 15 hours annually.
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications in First Aid/CPR and Food Handling.
  • Fulfill annual mandatory training obligations related to health, safety, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of six months of experience in a structured early childhood education environment (such as preschool, Head Start, Kindergarten, or daycare) is essential, along with demonstrated competencies for this role. Alternatively, satisfactory completion of a related Work Experience placement or two years of experience managing in-home childcare with positive references will be considered.
  • Ability to effectively engage with families and utilize a constructive approach in guiding child behavior.
  • Proven capability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal record check and a Department of Human Services (DHS) background investigation, and maintain enrollment in the State of Oregon Criminal History Registry.
  • A valid First Aid/CPR certification and Food Handlers card are required or must be obtained within 60 days of employment.
