The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for negotiating advantageous terms, securing volume discounts, and establishing long-term agreements with vendors. This role involves preparing and processing requisitions and purchase orders for the acquisition of goods, services, and supplies, either for customer-related business functions or for internal operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulates and implements sourcing strategies, assesses product offerings, recommends suppliers, and negotiates contracts for designated categories or departments.
- Collects business requirements and identifies potential suppliers through pre-qualification processes.
- Creates and disseminates requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotes (RFQs), gathering bids and pertinent information.
- Analyzes proposals and quotes based on quality, cost, and other criteria, recommending suppliers that align with the organization's needs.
- Collaborates with selected suppliers to establish mutually beneficial contractual agreements.
- May oversee tactical purchasing activities, including the issuance of purchase orders and invoice payments.
- Ensures compliance with internal policies and external regulations in all procurement activities.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience is required. A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
Field of Study: Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
Experience: 0-3 years of relevant experience is necessary.
Skills and Abilities: The ideal candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills, be self-driven, manage time effectively, and work collaboratively within a team. Critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines are essential. Proficiency in negotiation and analytical skills is also required.
The candidate should have a solid understanding of procurement and manufacturing principles.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Travel Requirements: Less than 25% travel may be required.
Work Environment: This position requires onsite work.
