Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide direct patient care and support services in an in-patient or out-patient environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide non-invasive and routine patient care, including vital sign taking and activities of daily living (ADLs).
  • Maintain supplies and equipment, and transport patients as needed.
  • Assist with patient orientation, and position patients unable to perform self-care.
  • Perform routine tube care, change catheter bags, and collect non-sterile specimens.
  • Observe patients, and operate Hoyer lifts as required.

Requirements:

  • High School or GED Equivalent.
  • CNA or Cert EMT-B (ICU) or 1 semester accredited nurse program.
  • 6 months patient care experience.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days.

Working Conditions:

  • Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
  • Significant Hazard: Chemicals, Bio-Hazardous Materials require PPE.
