Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Officer I to join our team at the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of airport stakeholders, including passengers, employees, and tenants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and respond to emergency situations, including aircraft incidents, structural fires, and medical emergencies.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the airport to identify potential security threats and take proactive measures to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate with airport stakeholders, including law enforcement, emergency medical services, and airport operations teams, to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies.
  • Perform facility, equipment, and vehicle checks to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Participate in training and professional development to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as firefighting, emergency medical services, and law enforcement.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must pass pre-employment physical and medical examinations.
  • Must not have been convicted of a felony or have any criminal actions actively being prosecuted.
  • Must be vaccinated for Hepatitis B and have provided evidence of immunity or signed a declination form.
  • Must pass physical agility and semi-annual physical fitness tests.
  • Must successfully complete the DOCJT Peace Officer Professional Standards (POPS) hiring standards.
  • Must possess a current CPAT card or have met the qualifications for exception.
Working Conditions

This position is classified as "heavy" to "very heavy" work in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The incumbent must be able to work in inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, and confined spaces. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, walk, and/or run for extended periods.
