Job Description

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is seeking a Student Success Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Student Success team, you will play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their academic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance and support to students in developing academic skills and habits
  • Assist students with goal setting and tracking progress towards those goals
  • Create and implement individual and group instruction sessions
  • Develop and implement assessment plans for individual students
  • Provide feedback and accountability to students
  • Guide students on course selection and extracurricular activities
  • Motivate and build strong relationships with students
  • Identify individual student needs and develop plans to address them
  • Respond to student advising needs
  • Assess, coordinate, identify, and use intervention strategies based on best practices for serving at-risk students
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to monitor student success using processes such as Early Alerts, behavioral progress, academic standing, accommodation plans, and Student Academic Progress
  • Assist students in navigating and understanding campus services and policies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Knowledge and skill with technology, including computer software programs for data collection, decision-making, and communication
  • Ability to motivate and mentor students
  • Problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with first-generation and at-risk student populations
  • 2 years' experience working in higher education
