Position Overview

Role Summary:

The Breast Imaging Specialist is responsible for conducting specialized imaging procedures focused on breast health. This role is vital in assisting with the diagnosis and management of breast-related conditions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical proficiency while operating sophisticated imaging equipment and ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology: Required
  • Prior experience in breast imaging: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) and Mammography Technologist: Required in CA
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography (ARRT-R): Required
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Mammography (ARRT-M): Required in OR, Preferred in CA and HI
  • Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
  • Fluoroscopy license: Preferred in CA
  • Venipuncture certification: Preferred in CA
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
  • Mammographic Radiologic Technology (MRT): Required
Key Responsibilities:
  • Educate patients about the imaging process while ensuring their privacy and comfort. Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
  • Conduct diagnostic or screening mammograms as directed. Prepare for and assist the Radiologist with complex imaging procedures, including breast biopsies. Ensure high-quality imaging for evaluation and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Gather essential patient information and communicate necessary preparation instructions to relevant care teams.
  • Address questions and concerns by consulting with senior staff for guidance and expertise.
  • Perform additional job-related tasks as needed.
