Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Starr Regional Medical Center's Surgery Center Department. This is a PRN position, offering a flexible schedule and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establish a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
  • Perform plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Document patient care given.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assist patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborate as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Work as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
Infection Control & Cancer Registry Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the development and evaluation of the organization's infection prevention and control strategies, policies, and planning.
  • Collect and perform statistical analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of OSHA Standards/healthcare acquired infection data, including risk assessment, surveillance priorities, and outcomes analysis.
  • Assist with the development of educational resources and initiatives.
  • Monitor research and developments in the field of infection prevention and control to identify best practices.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities of the organization and the department.
  • Facilitate the surgery center's process to provide a safe environment by reducing the risk of exposure to blood/body fluids to employees, patients, and customers of the facility.
  • Collect, compile, and report cancer diagnosis data for state reporting purposes on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare policies and procedures for surgery center.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Nursing: Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing: Preferred
  • Registered Nurse License in the State of TN or another compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of hire
