Job Title: Reporting and Applications Developer

Amherst College is seeking a skilled Reporting and Applications Developer to join our Advancement team. As a key member of our team, you will design, develop, and implement various internal and external reports and web applications using SQL Server, PHP, and Tableau.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop reports and dashboards using Tableau and SQL Server
  • Build and maintain internal and external browser-based applications using Laravel and SQL Server
  • Work with end users to gather and refine requirements and coordinate testing
  • Provide client support, including off-hours/on-call support for a wide range of applications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3-5 years of related experience
  • Equivalent work experience in lieu of minimum education and related experience
  • 3+ years of experience building queries, procedures, and reports in SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle
  • 3+ years of experience building PHP applications
  • Working knowledge of Tableau reporting
  • Strong organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to collaborate and work effectively with all levels of the college community
  • Ability to work independently and/or work well with a team depending on the situation
  • Comfortable learning and incorporating new technologies
  • Ability to synthesize information and set/suggest policy
  • Commitment to excellence and quality, appreciation of customer service
  • Focus on continuous improvement
  • Commitment to or experience working with a diverse community

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with SQL Server, building complex queries, procedures, and reports
  • 3+ years of experience building Laravel applications
  • 2+ years of experience with or similar JavaScript framework
  • 2+ years of experience Tableau reporting
  • Working knowledge of MS Access
  • Experience with GitLab or GitHub for version control
