The Radiologic Imaging Specialist, under the guidance of the Medical Director and/or Section Head, along with the manager and Radiologist, is responsible for executing technical procedures and aiding in the clinical assessment and care of patients.
This role involves utilizing specific imaging modalities to generate diagnostic images while ensuring a safe and positive experience for patients.
In modalities that produce radiation, specialists are expected to implement and uphold radiation safety protocols in accordance with New York State Department of Health regulations.
Technologists are encouraged to engage in ongoing education and support the learning of others as technology evolves.Key Responsibilities:
+ Maintain proficient imaging skills in the designated modality.
+ Aim for professional growth and development, fostering a progressive Imaging department with a supportive environment.
+ Assist Physicians in all procedural aspects within the assigned area.
+ Be available for on-call duties if applicable.
+ Serve as a mentor and preceptor for new staff and students.
+ Actively contribute to maintaining the necessary accreditations for AMCH and the imaging department.
+ Accurately input patient data into computer systems.
+ Perform quality assurance on images and patient information for accuracy before submission to PACs.
+ Obtain peripheral IV access and administer contrast material as required.
+ Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
Qualifications:
+ Associate's Degree in Applied Science - required
+ Diploma in X-Ray - required
+ Graduate of an accredited professional imaging program - required
+ Previous experience is preferred
+ Maintain proficient imaging skills in the designated modality.
+ Adhere to Hospital/department policies and New York State and accrediting agency standards.
+ Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to various age groups and specific patient characteristics.
+ Ensure a safe and positive experience for patients.
+ ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Registered upon hire - required
+ Current New York State registration or possess a limited permit to practice in New York upon hire - required
