Job Title: Registered Nurse III

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse III to join our team at the Dr. John C. Corrigan Mental Health Center. As a Registered Nurse III, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse III will work on a 16-bed secured inpatient unit, providing primary nursing care to assigned patients. This includes monitoring patients, behaviors, and providing direct care nursing care and patient teaching in regard to health and wellness, medication, and illness management.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide primary nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process and following current standards of care.
  • Transcribe and verify all prescriber's orders and work with pharmacy to obtain and administer medications and treatments.
  • Meet patient's nursing care needs as charge nurse or primary nurse by communicating key patient information to appropriate nursing staff.
  • Participate in admission, discharge, and transfer of patients, completing admission nursing assessment and initial nursing care plan.
  • Function as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team to establish a plan of patient care with both short- and long-term person-centered goals.
  • Provide and coordinate health teaching to patients and staff to increase knowledge base and maintain optimum level of health and functioning.
  • Manage and supervise nursing staff, including Mental Health Workers and Licensed Practical Nurses, in the absence of a registered nurse of a higher grade.
Requirements:
  • Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
  • At least one year of full-time or equivalent part-time experience as a registered nurse in a recognized hospital, clinic, or medical facility.
  • Six months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity.
