Job Summary

Lynwood Unified School District is seeking a skilled Nutrition Service Worker I to join our team. This role is responsible for providing support to our food service activities at assigned locations, ensuring the preparation and serving of food items to students and staff in a safe and sanitary condition.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve food items to students and staff, adhering to mandated nutritional requirements and requests.
  • Maintain food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition, adhering to health standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with production records, temperature logs, kitchen inventory, and delivery and storage FIFO to ensure required information is completed in a timely manner.
  • Operate standard food service equipment, such as food slicers, fryers, and ovens, to complete job functions.
  • Perform routine cashiering duties, including counting money, making correct change, and collecting, sorting, and recording daily meal counts.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff, students, and the public, resolving problems, providing information or direction, and referring to appropriate personnel as needed.
Requirements
  • Six (6) months of experience in a job-related field.
  • Any other combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the applicant's ability to possess the required skills, knowledge, or abilities may be considered.
Working Conditions

The Nutrition Service Worker I will work in a fast-paced food service environment, with significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling required. The job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing, with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
