POSITION OVERVIEW:

JOB TITLE: Family Physician

DEPARTMENT: Medical Services

REPORTS TO: Chief Health Officer

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a dedicated Family Physician to provide exceptional healthcare services at SWLA Center for Health Services. This role involves delivering comprehensive medical care to patients, adhering to established medical standards within this specialty. You will be an integral part of our healthcare delivery system.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a valid medical license to practice in Louisiana along with a current DEA license. Board eligibility or certification in a primary care specialty is required. CPR certification is highly encouraged.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Medical degree from an accredited institution or a DO degree from an approved osteopathic school.
  • Completion of a residency program for board eligibility; board certification is preferred.
  • Possession of a current Louisiana medical license and DEA license.
  • Strong understanding of medical practice principles relevant to the specialty.
  • Ability to address the needs of individuals from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Active involvement in provider meetings, staff gatherings, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Proficient in using Centricity/EMR for accurate medical record maintenance.
  • Compliance with SWLA Center for Health Services and Health Provider By-Laws.
  • Familiarity with NCQA, JCAHO, and EMR requirements of SWLA Center for Health Services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Ensure patient confidentiality and uphold patient rights.
  2. Exhibit punctuality and maintain excellent attendance.
  3. Conduct patient examinations to diagnose conditions and establish preventive health measures.
  4. Assist in the planning, management, and evaluation of healthcare delivery.
  5. Provide ongoing care, including hospital privileges and emergency room coverage.
  6. Engage in medical associations/societies, quality assurance, and clinical decision-making processes.
  7. Facilitate community education, staff training, and committee meetings.
  8. Collaborate effectively with Nurse Practitioners within the department.

COVID-19 POLICY:

SWLA Center for Health Services mandates that all employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions for valid medical conditions or religious beliefs are permitted. Proof of vaccination is required, and failure to provide this may result in employment termination.
