Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Madison City Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing assistance with the implementation of effective maintenance operations for all of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete work orders efficiently and in a timely manner
  • Work with other maintenance personnel on assigned tasks
  • Monitor energy consumption and recommend energy-saving ideas at each facility
  • Maintain good relationships with maintenance personnel and other school employees
  • Maintain a working relationship with vendors that supply maintenance operations
  • Perform tasks with the safety of students as a priority
  • Utilize power tools and keep a tool and equipment inventory
  • Comply with reporting procedures; written and/or electronic reports
  • Lift (approximately pounds), climb (approximately 40-50 feet)
  • Work with confidence and safety on various voltages
  • Operate district or personal vehicles responsibly
  • Drive and maneuver lifts or other assistive equipment
  • Perform diagnostics and maintenance on mechanical devices, large machines, and food service equipment
  • Ensure that facilities follow federal and state regulations for Fire and Safety
  • Communicate effectively, oral and written
  • Demonstrate computer skills
  • Perform other duties within the scope of his/her employment as may be assigned
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in maintenance trades (HVAC, Electricity, Plumbing etc.)
  • EPA Certification required or must be obtained within the first year of employment
  • Valid Alabama driver's license
  • Experience with various technologies (knowledge of automated building controls, etc.)
Working Conditions

This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools.

Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.

Expected Employment: 240 days/8 hrs. (full year)

Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.

Salary: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year). Up to 10 years experience will be counted for new employees who provide documentation of full-time experience in the area of concentration.
