About Us: New Hope Services (NHS) has proudly served Southern Indiana for over 65 years, providing a comprehensive range of human services from child and family support to ability services. Our expertise in affordable housing allows us to collaborate with local communities to foster significant economic and community development.
Role Summary: The WIC Program is in search of a qualified Nutritionist, Dietitian, or Registered Nurse to deliver nutrition education, community referrals, and supplemental food benefits to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, postpartum women, infants, and children under five years of age.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome families warmly during clinic visits and phone interactions, ensuring excellent communication and engagement.
- Conduct certification testing, nutrition assessments, and education efficiently, while managing referrals and food package issuance.
- Assist with clerical tasks as needed, ensuring smooth clinic operations.
- Maintain and calibrate medical equipment, ensuring compliance with health standards.
- Promote breastfeeding as the preferred method of infant nutrition.
- Adhere to Universal Precautions and safety protocols.
Performance Expectations:
- Achieve or exceed established caseload goals.
- Maintain a monthly participation rate for WIC at or above the state average.
- Ensure a show rate of 75% or higher for appointments, with full daily scheduling.
- Engage in outreach initiatives and represent WIC in community activities.
- Accept assigned clinic duties and travel as necessary, with reimbursement for additional travel.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess one of the following:
- Registered Dietitian
- Registered Nurse
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant fields such as:
- Dietetics
- Nutrition/Nutrition Sciences
- Public Health Nutrition
- Community Nutrition
- Clinical Nutrition
- Family and Consumer Sciences
- Foods and Nutrition in Business
- Nutrition, Fitness, and Health
Desired Skills:
- Adaptability in schedule and responsibilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Bi-lingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
This position reports to the WIC Clinic Manager.
