Our engineers and scientific specialists act as subject matter experts to uncover the root causes of failures and provide expert opinions in legal settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform field investigations and conduct analyses of failures and accidents related to various mechanical systems, including HVAC, natural gas systems, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, plumbing, and other mechanical devices.
  • Execute impartial investigations for a diverse range of clients.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Draft comprehensive oral and written reports in accessible language that outline failure causes, loss extent, and suggested remediation measures.
  • Deliver professional presentations, cultivate client relationships, and effectively promote oneself to client groups.
  • Support conclusions with appropriate expert testimony in legal contexts.
  • Enhance professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and participation in industry associations.
  • Embrace and integrate constructive feedback into work performance.
  • Maintain a consistent and reliable presence at work.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • P.E. registration through examination within 12 months of starting employment.
  • A minimum of seven years of post-academic engineering experience.
  • Experience with some (not necessarily all) of the following: natural gas systems, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, HVAC systems, plumbing, and various mechanical devices.
  • Strong writing abilities are essential.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Experience in public speaking is advantageous.

Physical Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Ability to navigate accident sites safely.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to transport equipment to and from job sites.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to drive in various conditions.
  • Willingness to fly as necessary.
  • Capability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Willingness to learn new industries and obtain necessary certifications.
