**Job Title:** School Bus Aide

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a reliable and responsible individual to assist our school bus drivers in maintaining a safe and orderly environment for students.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assist drivers in ensuring student safety and behavior
  • Be familiar with bus routes and report any safety issues to the driver
  • Keep current on transportation handbook addenda
  • Help drivers solve bus problems and exercise good judgment in dealing with parents and students
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings related to transportation
  • Inform drivers of students encountering problems on the bus
  • Be present during loading and unloading of students
  • Meet drivers at scheduled hours and locations
  • Keep supervisors and drivers informed of any absences
  • Pay attention to weather-related issues
  • Assist in keeping the bus clean and tidy
  • Follow approved emergency guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Department supervisors

**Requirements:**

Candidate must possess a combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school. Regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all CCPS employees.

**Working Conditions:**

Frequent sitting with limited walking, standing, stooping, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to 20 pounds may be required. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for observing general student behavior, surroundings, and activities.
