Position Overview

The Registered Sleep Technologist plays a crucial role in the assessment and management of sleep disorders. This position is responsible for conducting sleep studies and ensuring accurate monitoring of patients' sleep patterns to enhance their overall health and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and configure sleep study equipment and monitoring devices for patient assessments.
2. Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including collecting medical histories and sleep-related data.
3. Monitor and record physiological parameters during sleep studies, such as brain activity, heart rate, respiratory function, and oxygen saturation levels.
4. Educate patients regarding the sleep study process, the significance of sleep hygiene, and adherence to treatment protocols.
5. Collaborate with sleep medicine specialists and healthcare teams to analyze sleep study findings and recommend appropriate treatment options.
6. Assist in the application and adjustment of various therapies, including Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and other advanced ventilation techniques.
7. Conduct assessments on pediatric patients, utilizing capnography when necessary.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; completion of a clinical rotation in polysomnography is required.
Experience: Must be registered by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists as a RPSGT and hold certification from the North Carolina Medical Board. Current BLS (CPR) certification from the American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider is also required.

Work Environment

This position requires onsite presence with a full-time commitment, working primarily during night shifts. Competitive shift differentials are available.
