Telecommunications Estimator

Solex Contracting Inc. is a leading provider of innovative solutions for wireless network infrastructure, network integrations, LTE broadband, microwave technologies, distributed antenna systems (DAS), network modifications, digital infrastructure, and small cell technology. We are seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Assessment and Cost Estimation:
  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope and requirements.
  • Manage site visits by coordinating with and overseeing team members to gather information about site conditions and potential challenges.
  • Estimate the costs of materials, labor, equipment, and other resources needed for telecommunications projects.
• Civil Construction Estimation:
  • Estimate costs for concrete work, trenching and excavation, paving and surfacing, earthworks, drainage, utilities installation, and structural elements.
  • Include costs for miscellaneous civil works such as culverts, drainage channels, and fencing and barriers.
• Quantity Takeoff and Cost Calculation:
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, measuring and quantifying materials required for the project.
  • Calculate costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services needed for each specific task.
  • Include costs for mobilization, site setup, and demobilization.
• Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers for materials and from subcontractors for specialized work.
  • Add contingency costs to cover unexpected expenses and include overhead costs such as permits, insurance, and administrative expenses.
• Estimate Preparation and Review:
  • Compile all estimated costs into a detailed and organized document using specialized estimating software.
  • Review and refine estimates to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports and summaries of estimates to clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
• Cost Control and Documentation:
  • Implement cost control measures to keep the project within budget.
  • Track actual costs versus estimated costs and adjust estimates as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of all estimates, bids, and project-related documents.
• Collaboration and Risk Management:
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other professionals to ensure accurate and comprehensive estimates.
  • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing information.
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties in the project and include appropriate allowances in the estimates.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate cost-related risks.
• Software Utilization:
  • Use specialized estimating software and tools to streamline the estimating process and ensure accuracy.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in construction estimating within the industry.
• Strong understanding of cost control principles and contract negotiation.
• Knowledge of construction site operations and project management processes.
• Ability to analyze project requirements accurately to determine pricing.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
