Estimated Annual Salary: $85,000 - $110,000

Job Summary

The GI Nurse Specialist is responsible for providing quality patient care, utilizing the nursing process and medical plan of care, while maintaining a safe and effective environment during GI procedures.

  • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments to ensure patients are prepared for procedures, reviewing medical history, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring patient comfort.
  • Procedure Preparation: Prepare the GI procedure room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and medications are available and functioning properly.
  • Sterile Technique: Maintain sterile technique and assist with positioning patients in preparation for procedures.
  • Communication: Serve as a critical communication liaison between patients, their families, the surgical team, and other healthcare professionals throughout the procedure.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Continuously monitor patient status, including vital signs, and respond to any changes or emergencies.
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate and complete documentation, including intraoperative records and electronic health records.
  • Medication Administration: Assist with the administration of medications under physician direction, including sedation, anesthetics, and pain management.
  • Anticipation and Assistance: Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide instruments and supplies in a timely manner.
  • Post-Procedure Care: Conduct post-procedure assessments, monitor patients during recovery, and provide discharge instructions to patients and their families.

Requirements:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona (or compact state).
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in GI, Endoscopy, or Surgical Nursing preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
