Job Description

Overview:


The Certified Pharmacy Technician II in Acute Care operates under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, engaging in a range of responsibilities including aseptic compounding necessary for IV medication prescriptions, maintaining medication histories, and managing the receipt, dispensing, and delivery of both controlled and non-controlled substances to ensure optimal patient care.

Responsibilities:


This role encompasses various duties such as:

  • Compounding both hazardous and non-hazardous IV medications while ensuring accuracy and compliance with current standards.
  • Gathering comprehensive medication histories through patient interviews, adhering to organizational protocols.
  • Navigating electronic medical records to extract relevant information to support pharmacy operations.
  • Utilizing pharmacy technology and automation to facilitate medication preparation.
  • Completing regulatory and compliance tasks related to medication management.
  • Communicating effectively with healthcare professionals to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Mentoring and training new staff members.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

REQUIRED - MUST BE CERTIFIED THROUGH PTCB OR NHA

EDUCATION: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE: Required: Minimum of 2 years or successful completion of an accredited pharmacy technician training program

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician.
