Key Responsibilities:
- Execute all job functions safely and report any unsafe practices to the supervisor.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating portable power tools and hand tools necessary for routine maintenance tasks.
- Independently or collaboratively assist higher-level maintenance staff in disassembling various types of machinery. This may involve fabricating replacement components, reassembling, aligning, and adjusting plant equipment.
- Inspect machinery for defective parts and wear, and effectively communicate equipment conditions to supervisors to enhance the preventive maintenance program.
- Understand load limitations and the safe operation of mobile and hoisting equipment.
- Comprehend safe rigging and lifting procedures, executing these operations without supervision.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records, including inventory of operational supplies, spare parts, and their locations.
- Develop and promote safe working practices to ensure the well-being of all personnel.
- Report any hazardous conditions encountered.
- Understand the proper setup for cutting and welding machines, performing routine acetylene cutting and welding independently.
- Grasp the fundamentals of precision alignment, executing alignment procedures on basic systems, including belt and chain drives without supervision.
- Understand bearing lubrication and installation basics, installing bearings within specified tolerances independently.
- Familiarity with safety harness regulations.
- Comprehend lockout/tagout procedures for energy sources, identifying and de-energizing machines for maintenance tasks.
Required Skills and Competencies:
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.
- Availability for off-shift call duty as scheduled.
- Ability to achieve certification within a 90-day probationary period.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting control-related systems using control PC software.
- Willingness to learn new control technologies and systems as required.
Computer and Software Skills:
The candidate must be able to:
- Access the company computer system.
- Check and respond to emails.
Education and Experience:
The candidate should have:
- A High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Essential Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The candidate should be able to:
- Pass a drug screening prior to employment.
- Undergo an acceptable background check.
- Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
- Complete the Ramsay Maintenance Aptitude Test.
- Qualify for respirator use.
