As a Pharmacy Technician at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medications to patients. Under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will perform a variety of tasks to support the daily workflow of the pharmacy, including typing new prescriptions, processing refill prescriptions, and entering prescription data into the computer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols.
- Perform inventory functions, including stocking shelves, reconstituting medications, and counting and pouring medications from stock bottles.
- Process requests for refills, handle non-professional phone calls, and triage calls to the appropriate person.
- Identify opportunities to prevent unusual occurrences and take appropriate steps to resolve and report them.
- Stay current on clinical initiatives and priorities, and bring specific issues to the attention of pharmacists.
Requirements:
- Completion of an approved pharmacy technician training program or equivalent.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification (Washington) required at hire.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to use available resources and tools efficiently and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One (1) plus year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Two (2) plus years of IV experience.
- Two (2) plus years of warehouse experience.
- Experience interacting with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians.
