Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Cardiology/IMC unit at Ridges Hospital. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our professional nursing staff.

Responsibilities
  • Assist professional nurses in delivering patient care, including transporting patients and equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and reordering and stocking supplies.
  • Provide basic patient care, including personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care, and oral hygiene.
  • Accurately take and record patient vital signs, including weight, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, and oxygen saturation.
  • Report unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
  • Orient patients and their families to the environment and ensure their belongings are accounted for.
  • Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies, and use transfer belts when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation.
  • Clean, set up, and maintain rooms and equipment, and order and stock supplies.
  • Accurately document tasks performed on appropriate forms.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
  • Or six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting.
  • Or current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
  • Or current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
