Police Academy Cadet

At Vets Hired, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Police Academy Trainee. This is a non-sworn trainee classification that involves participating in required law enforcement training to develop and meet the requirements of the position of Police Officer.

• Perform community-based law enforcement and crime prevention duties under supervision.
• Enforce city, county, and state laws, and patrol assigned areas.
• Respond to calls for protection of life and property, and conduct preliminary investigations of matters involving possible violations of law.
• Investigate criminal cases, direct and control traffic flow, and stop violators.
• Warn against unlawful practices, issue citations, and testify in court.
• Prepare and submit reports, inspect business premises, and investigate suspicious persons and circumstances.
• Give information and directions to the public, review case records and reports, and collect and identify evidence.
• Apprehend and arrest criminal law violators, enforce parking regulations, and attend training assignments and target practice.

• Graduation from high school or equivalent.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• At least 20 years of age at time of application, and at least 21 years of age by date of hire.
• Possession of a valid California driver license, auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
• Residency requirement: must be a permanent and full-time resident of the State of California and reside no further than one hundred (100) road miles from Police Headquarters.
