Job Summary

Hog Island Oyster Co. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Human Resource Assistant to provide administrative support to the Department of People team. As a key member of the DOP team, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining employee records, assisting with the onboarding process, and preparing HR documents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and HR files
  • Assist with the onboarding process for new hires, including preparing and processing HR documents
  • Provide administrative support to the Department of People team, including recruitment assistance and compliance reporting
  • Assist with payroll processing and benefits administration
  • Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare recommendations on assigned projects and tasks
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; secondary education desired
  • Minimum 1-2 years of equivalent experience required
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Able to speak, read, and write in English
  • Demonstrable knowledge of assigned functional areas, including HRIS
  • Knowledge with Paylocity a plus
  • Keen attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Ability to effectively organize multiple priorities and meet agreed-upon deadlines
  • Aptitude for providing exceptional customer service to employees, co-workers, and vendors while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse population
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrable basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Work Environment

The work environment is a fast-paced business office setting with moderate noise levels. The successful candidate will be required to stand/sit intermittently throughout the work shift, with frequent computer use. Good visual acuity and ability to regularly lift and move 10 pounds are required.
