Department: Anesthesiology
Job Overview:The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for delivering anesthesia care and ensuring patient safety during surgical procedures. This role involves making critical anesthetic decisions, administering anesthesia according to established protocols, and effectively communicating patient status to the healthcare team. The CRNA also coordinates staff assignments and coverage in the surgical environment.
This position requires a strong understanding of patient growth and development across the lifespan. The CRNA must assess and interpret data related to the patient's condition, taking into account age-specific needs. Leadership is demonstrated through participation in committees, educational initiatives, and research projects aimed at enhancing nursing practices.
Experience Requirements: A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a CRNA is necessary for this role.
Educational Background:Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing and nurse anesthesia program.
Licensure and Certification:This casual CRNA position is available at Essentia Health facilities. The candidate must be capable of working autonomously and should possess proficiency in nerve blocks and spinal anesthesia.
- Work settings include OR, Endoscopy, and Emergency Departments for intubation and peripheral access.
- Initial requirement is 1-2 days per week.
- Ongoing need is 1-2 days per month.
- No on-call duties or weekend shifts.
- Current state licensure as a CRNA.
- Certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA); candidates awaiting initial certification must pass the exam within 12 months of graduation.
- Re-certification as per NBCRNA guidelines.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
