Primary Focus

The primary responsibility involves designing and implementing secure, scalable, and highly available cloud reference architectures that facilitate application deployments within a cloud environment. This role is accountable for establishing and upholding cloud architecture standards across Cayuse's cloud environments. Collaboration with fellow architects, operational/infrastructure teams, and delivery units is essential to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture direction and standards. The position also entails providing guidance on significant architectural designs for product roadmaps, ensuring consistency, security, maintainability, and flexibility across system, technical, and product architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cloud reference architecture documentation for constructing and deploying complex and secure cloud-based applications, considering critical factors such as data privacy, access controls, and encryption.
  • Engage with cloud engineering teams to ensure that designs and deployments adhere to established cloud reference architecture.
  • Formulate strategies for migrating on-premises applications and solutions to the cloud in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Assess cloud solution designs for best practices, cost-effectiveness, scalability, and security; provide alternative design recommendations as necessary.
  • Establish best practices surrounding cloud administration, including deployment, monitoring, and alerting in coordination with relevant teams.
  • Conduct technical audits of existing cloud deployments to ensure compliance with current cloud architecture standards.
  • Work alongside the cloud FinOps team to identify cost reduction opportunities and develop ongoing cost-saving strategies.
  • Assist in troubleshooting efforts during cloud-related outages.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in implementing and supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure and topologies.
  • Proficiency in scripting technologies such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, Azure Resource Manager Templates, and Desired State Configuration.
  • Networking expertise, including routing, protocols, subnets, SDNs, network topologies, DNS, and Load Balancers.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools and engineering practices, including Terraform and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Microservices and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Fluency in one or more scripting languages, such as Python or Perl.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and engineering practices, including Jenkins and Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and pipeline analysis tools.
  • Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create detailed reference architecture diagrams.
