Job Title: Database Engineering Team Manager

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Database Engineering Team Manager to lead our team responsible for database engineering and support.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage staff administration, including staffing recommendations, performance appraisals, coaching, counseling, work assignments, and resource planning.
  • Train and provide development opportunities for employees, offering feedback, support, and motivation.
  • Oversee day-to-day support and service delivery for database functions.
  • Supervise project-related activities, working with project management professionals (internal and external), and manage less complex project activities in accordance with established project management processes.
  • Manage vendor relations, including identification, selection, contract negotiation, and statement of work (SOW) reviews.
  • Adhere to ITS/SSS policies, processes, and procedures, and proactively seek opportunities to enhance existing ITIL processes.
  • Develop and refine processes and procedures specific to database engineering functions.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions, participate in decisions regarding purchases, in-house development, modification, assessment, and implementation.
  • Contribute to the formulation of operational and tactical plans related to database functions.
Requirements:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Proficient in management of relational database systems and technologies, specifically SQL Server and DB2 (z/OS and Distributed).
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to quickly assess and address staff-related issues or conflicts.
  • Ensures team and individual goals align with IT strategic vision.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Open-minded, collaborative, and capable of resolving conflicts efficiently.
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of IT experience, including supervising teams responsible for database administration and support in an enterprise environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • ITIL Foundation certificate required.
Additional Details:

The base salary range for this position is $135K - $140K annually, depending on experience.

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
