Position Overview

As a Mechanical Quality Assurance Inspector, your primary role will involve conducting inspections and assessments related to welding and mechanical construction tasks. You will also undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor to ensure compliance with project quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the project's Quality Management System, including work instructions and procedures.
  • Ensure that all work adheres to the technical specifications outlined in project documentation, including drawings, specifications, procedures, inspection, and test plans.
  • Complete detailed checklists at each hold/witness point as stipulated by the Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Develop inspection and test plans, ensuring the effective implementation of the project quality plan for your designated area.
  • Produce quality deliverables that meet the requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with construction supervisors, planners, and subcontractors to develop and implement the project quality system.
  • Generate quality reports and metrics to track performance.
  • Conduct personnel quality training related to project-specific quality processes and requirements as needed.
  • Inspect field conditions, identify issues, and propose cost-saving measures, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Organize and maintain quality records and documentation pertinent to your area of responsibility.
  • Report any Non-Conformance and rework issues to the Project Quality Manager, assisting in documentation and resolution verification as required.
  • Research and respond to technical inquiries, aiding in the interpretation of construction codes and standards.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions to mitigate risks.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or technical degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a construction-related role (with at least one year in a quality position).
  • Alternatively, an associate degree in engineering technology or science with three years of experience in a construction role (at least two years in a quality position).
  • Or a high school diploma or equivalent GED with 5 years of experience in the construction field (at least three years in a quality position).
  • Broad knowledge of trades, disciplines, and associated special processes, including inspection and testing techniques, particularly in welding and NDT testing.
  • Familiarity with relevant construction industry codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements (e.g., ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC).
  • Ability to facilitate team communication and maintain professionalism.
  • Strong mathematical skills with the ability to perform calculations accurately.
  • Capacity to read and interpret plans and specifications, visualizing two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Highly motivated with a strong commitment to excellence and initiative.
  • Demonstrated work ethic, ensuring tasks are completed correctly the first time.
  • Commitment to ethics and integrity in all actions.
