Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
Full-Time Faculty are expected to become ATI Champions within 90 days of employment. Responsibilities include preparing course materials, delivering lectures, facilitating labs and clinical rotations, monitoring equipment and supply needs, and maintaining the classroom environment. You will also be responsible for finding an approved substitute in case of absence and enforcing institutional policies (attendance, dress code, clinical guidelines, etc.). Participation in orientation, graduation, and pinning ceremonies is required for full-time faculty and requested for part-time faculty. Additionally, you will work on retention strategies and program development, attend faculty meetings, and engage in committees and knowledge-sharing forums.

As an educator, you will guide and assess student progress in achieving both theoretical knowledge and practical competencies. Regular monitoring of student performance and providing necessary follow-up will be essential.

Weekly feedback reports will be submitted to the Associate Director of Nursing, Director of Nursing, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Group Campus President/Chief Operating Officer.

It is crucial to maintain all relevant licenses, certifications, and paperwork for your personnel file.

Continuing education is vital; therefore, you are expected to complete a minimum of eight (8) hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) annually through professional development activities.

Encourage students to provide course evaluations and utilize this feedback to enhance course delivery. Regular and dependable attendance is essential. Participation in accreditation activities and compliance with all governmental regulations and standards is required. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications and Skills:
At HCI, faculty members are responsible for delivering courses within standard academic programs.

All faculty should possess, at a minimum, the degree required for their specific discipline and have relevant experience and credentials as per the guidelines of the Florida Board of Nursing, ACEN, ACCSC, and other governing bodies.

It is important to note that, according to the Florida Board of Nursing, at least 50% of the faculty must hold a master's or doctoral degree in Nursing.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with analytical abilities, are essential. Proficiency in teaching and effectively managing students' clinical and skills lab activities is required. Computer literacy, including functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.), is necessary. You should be adept at managing people and projects, knowledgeable in course content, and effective in directing and evaluating student learning and lab performance. A solid foundation in Educational Theory and Techniques, along with a commitment to high ethical standards, is expected.

Education and Experience:
A minimum of an earned Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program is required.

A Master's degree in nursing (MSN or equivalent) from an accredited nursing program is preferred. You must hold a current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license issued by the Florida Department of Health. Additionally, a current and active Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required. A minimum of four (4) years of relevant practical work experience in the subject areas taught is necessary (as per ACCSC).

Workload Expectations:
The workload will vary based on faculty classification. Faculty members are expected to start and end on time for all assigned courses, clinicals, and lab hours. Prior approval from the Associate Director of Nursing or Director of Nursing is required for any overtime. Teaching must occur in face-to-face settings with students in various areas, including:
  • Didactic/classroom instruction
  • Clinical/offsite or onsite active patient/mannequin care experience
  • Lab/Simulation/Active Learning experiences
Full-Time Faculty are required to:
  • Teach a minimum of 30 hours per week.
Attend meetings, participate in accreditation processes, serve on committees, and perform other assigned duties.

Physical Demands:


The physical demands of this role align with those typical in a professional office setting and higher education teaching environment, including activities related to nursing: communicating with colleagues, presenting to students, demonstrating procedures, and navigating between classes and offices.

The ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally is required.
