Job Description: We are seeking a detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant to join our team at Texas Health Huguley Hospital. As a Laboratory Assistant, you will collect and process specimens according to established protocols, perform associated clerical and computer functions, and report to the floor to obtain specimens as needed.
Responsibilities:
- • Obtains blood specimens accurately and quickly using proper technique with attention to patient care and safety.
- • Correctly identifies patient and labels specimens according to procedure manual.
- • Collects specimens using proper technique to avoid hematomas, short draws, hemolysis, etc.
- • Checks for discrepancies in orders and resolves any that exist.
Requirements: To be successful in this role, you will need a high school graduate or equivalent, at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting, and a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols. A PBT(ASCP) certification is preferred.
