Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Supervisor to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Nursing Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising nursing staff and patient care activities on assigned shifts. You will act as a clinical resource to unit staff members and may assume responsibility for direct patient care as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide work direction to nursing staff and coordinate resources to support procedures and day-to-day operations.
  • Promote an environment conducive to quality patient care and advocate for the rights of patients and staff.
  • Facilitate communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize teamwork.
  • Develop and maintain effective intra- and inter-departmental relationships and facilitate positive communication with medical supply companies.
  • Evaluate the quality of patient care provided in the specialty area and ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct ongoing process improvement and serve as a clinical resource contact for patients, families, and nursing staff.
  • Develop department orientation and continuing education programs for staff and teach and guide staff.
  • Provide input regarding equipment/supply needs, renovations, and environmental issues.
  • Support Shared Leadership and its functions related to Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.
  • Perform human resources responsibilities for staff, including coaching on performance, completing performance reviews, and recommending hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in an inpatient nursing unit environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills necessary.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands simultaneously.
