Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Utilities Service Technician II to join our team at Polk County Board of County Commissioners. As a key member of our customer service team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of field work tasks, including reading meters, performing maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks, and interacting with customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read water consumption meters and record volume used by residential and commercial consumers
  • Perform site inspections and meter audits to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Initiate and terminate services as needed
  • Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and questions in a professional and courteous manner
  • Inspect meters and connections for defects, damage, and unauthorized connections
  • Repair or replace faulty meter boxes and lids
  • Clean registers and meter boxes
  • Perform routine maintenance checks on assigned vehicle and equipment
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of public contact work experience, including meter reading and/or field service experience
  • Two years of manual labor experience
  • Ability to utilize laptops and other technology equipment, as well as associated software
  • Valid driver's license and ability to secure a valid Florida driver's license
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, interact with customers, and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions. The employee must be able to lift and interact with job-related equipment and appurtenances that may weigh up to 45 pounds.
