Job SummaryThe Shop Lead is a critical role at Blanchard Machinery Company, responsible for leading a team of skilled technicians in providing mechanical services to customers. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, leadership skills, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and related components, following established procedures and guidelines.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate service employees to ensure work is performed in support of company goals.
• Establish production goals and monitor labor sales and utilization expectations to ensure team revenue targets are met.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures, and provide quality control/assurance inspections of completed tasks.
• Rebuild, repair, recondition, and maintain equipment and components, and disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer's specifications.
• Demonstrate good customer relations and support, and communicate customer needs to shop management.
• Plan and control cost of repair jobs, and complete parts orders and identify parts for return.
• Provide a significant amount of task and behavior-oriented supervision, mentoring, and training to others.
• Maintain all equipment and work areas in good, clean, and orderly condition, and work safely at all times.
Requirements
• High school diploma required.
• 10+ years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing diesel equipment preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Proficient with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems.
• Quality control analysis skills, operation and control skills, equipment selection skills, and knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and proper repair procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, operating and maintenance service manuals.
• Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to set and keep priorities and professionally handle the stress associated with dealing with a fast-paced industry and deadlines.
• High degree of interpersonal skills, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must possess the personal discipline to establish the proper image as a representative of Blanchard, with the ability to meet and work with customers in a professional manner.
• Strong problem-solving skills and be detailed-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Working Conditions
• The physical environment requires the employee to work primarily inside (non-climate-controlled) throughout the day.
• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high-speed rotating equipment.
• Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places.
• Required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to injury and/or hazardous materials.
• Job requires standing, stooping, squatting, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Physical use of a broad variety of tools and machines in order to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment.
• Must be able to lift varied weight.
• Seeing, reading, and writing to complete job responsibilities.
• Use of computer and other forms of technology to complete job responsibilities.
