Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Substation Engineer to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing civil substation projects for high-voltage utility systems and renewable energy interconnection projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of civil design for high voltage (4kV – 230kV) and EHV (above 230kV) substation projects, including steel structure designs, concrete foundation designs, oil containment designs, metal grate platform designs, and fire wall designs.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed designs, documentation, and drawings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external project stakeholders to ensure project milestones and expectations are met.
  • Apply NESC, ASCE, and other applicable codes and standards in the engineering design.
  • Provide technical support and consultation to project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 4 years related work experience in high voltage civil substation design.
  • EIT Certification.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation.
  • Proficient in 3D Modeling (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation V8i).
  • Proficient in PLSCAD, LPILE, STAAD, or similar programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional engineer's license or ability to obtain one within 2 years.
  • Knowledge of construction practices and constructability.
  • Experience with proposal writing and project estimating.
  • Working knowledge of scheduling and project controls processes.
