EC Resource Teacher Job Description

The EC Resource Teacher plays a pivotal role in creating an inclusive and supportive educational environment for students with diverse learning needs. This position requires a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by students with disabilities and the ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that cater to their specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • IEP Development and Implementation: Collaborate with students, teachers, and parents to create and implement IEPs that address the academic, behavioral, and social challenges faced by students with disabilities.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Conduct assessments to identify students' specific learning needs and monitor their progress to ensure that IEPs are effective.
  • Collaboration with General Education Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to provide appropriate accommodations and modifications in the classroom to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to education.
  • Specialized Instruction: Plan and deliver specialized instruction that aligns with students' IEPs and addresses their unique learning needs.
  • Communication and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians about their child's development and progress.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education and to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for students' rights and needs within the school and community to ensure that they receive the support and services they require.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid state teaching license with special education certification.
  • Experience: Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of therapeutic and instructional strategies for exceptional learners, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.
