Role Purpose:
The Patient Registration Specialist serves as a crucial first point of contact for patients and their families. Through professionalism and dedication, this role ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care. Responsibilities include gathering comprehensive and accurate insurance and demographic information promptly, enabling the provision of compassionate healthcare services to all individuals, regardless of their financial situation, while honoring cultural diversity.

Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and families with courtesy, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to perform administrative tasks, including answering calls, scheduling appointments, and sending reminders.
- Complete the registration process by collecting patient demographics and health information while verifying insurance eligibility, ensuring confidentiality.
- Address inquiries from patients and caregivers with compassion and respect.
- Organize and schedule services and appointments for initial visits or follow-ups.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage patient data and insurance benefits accurately.
- Generate and analyze patient data reports, addressing any discrepancies with supervisors.
- Assist with patient navigation within the facility and provide wheelchair transport when necessary.
- Coordinate interpreter services as needed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and KPHC policies.
- Deliver exceptional customer service while effectively communicating with all stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Experience in customer service or related fields with regular interaction with clients.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on compassionate customer engagement.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a medical customer service role.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Bilingual in English and Keres native language.
- Previous experience with Indian Health Services or Tribal Organizations.
Work Environment:
This role is typically performed in an office setting with varying noise levels. Employees may encounter health risks associated with working in a healthcare facility.
Physical Demands:
Employees may need to stand, walk, sit, bend, and communicate effectively. The role may require lifting up to 30 pounds and involves prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
