Role Summary:

Purpose and Responsibility:
The Procurement Specialist is tasked with identifying, initiating, negotiating, and managing external national and international sources to ensure a seamless supply of materials and services across the organization, adhering to established guidelines.

This role requires a combination of skills, knowledge, experience, and proven performance in the Automotive Industry, particularly in Production Parts, Services, and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO).


The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in balancing and achieving the goals of Customers, Employees, and Investors.


Key Responsibilities:

The individual must conduct themselves with integrity and professionalism, embodying the core values of the organization and adhering to the Magna Charter.

Self-motivation and proactive monitoring are essential to ensure the continuous availability of all assigned production and maintenance materials, parts, chemicals, tooling, MRO, capital equipment, protective gear, office supplies, and services.


  • Collaborate with relevant departments to compile comprehensive Bid Packages, including descriptions, specifications, performance indicators, and terms and conditions.
  • Prepare and release an Approved Supplier List, managing potential and existing industry sources through audits and validations.
  • Solicit bids, compile recommendations, and actively participate in the negotiation process.
  • Lead negotiations and finalize contract agreements in a timely manner.
  • Monitor delivery forecasts and take necessary actions as required.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between Purchase Orders and invoices.
  • Facilitate resolution of disputes between suppliers and the organization.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust strategies to mitigate negative impacts while leveraging positive opportunities.
  • Continuously identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Introduce innovative processes and products from the supply industry into the organization.
  • Assess Supplier Performance and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Stay informed on changing market conditions and implement relevant organizational strategies.
  • Complete special projects and assignments as directed.

Key Qualifications/Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (4-year degree) or Purchasing Certification (C.P.M. or CPSM) from the Institute of Supply Management (ISM) with a minimum of five years of purchasing experience in the Automotive Industry.

Communication Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents and regulations; write reports and business correspondence; present information effectively to diverse audiences; and lead discussions and meetings.

Mathematical Skills:
Proficiency in mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and standard costing techniques.

Reasoning Ability:
Strong analytical skills for problem-solving, data collection, and formulating recommendations.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Office environment with a mix of desk work and walking; occasional business travel may be required.
