Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Correctional Officer to join our team at our detention facility. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing and caring for detainees, ensuring the safety and security of the facility, and providing support to our staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Detainee Supervision: Supervise and monitor detainees in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Facility Operations: Coordinate detainee movement, conduct counts, and provide emergency response as needed.
  • Program Activities: Supervise labor crews and ensure program activities are conducted safely and securely.
  • Contraband Control: Conduct shakedowns for contraband materials and confiscate prohibited items as per policies and procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed logs on detainees, including disciplinary reports.
  • Emergency Response: Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma.
  • Facility Maintenance: Report any maintenance or repair needs to ensure the facility remains clean and secure.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
  • Training: College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Work experience in a correctional setting preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle physical and mental stress, and work extended hours as required.
