Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team at Oakland Park Dental Office. As a Dental Hygienist, you will play a crucial role in promoting oral health and providing quality dental care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Dental Cleanings: Conduct dental cleanings, including scaling, root planing, and polishing to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from patients' teeth.
  • Administer Local Anesthesia: Administer local anesthesia and place dental sealants as needed, if properly licensed and certified following all local and state guidelines.
  • Take Dental X-rays: Take dental X-rays and develop them for the dentist's evaluation.
  • Educate Patients: Educate patients on good oral hygiene practices, including proper brushing, flossing, and overall oral health maintenance.
  • Provide Personalized Instructions: Provide patients with personalized oral hygiene instructions and dietary recommendations to prevent dental issues.
  • Assist the Dentist: Assist the dentist during dental procedures, including preparing treatment rooms and sterilizing dental instruments.
  • Record Patient Information: Record patient information, treatment plans, and services rendered accurately in dental software.
  • Identify and Report Abnormalities: Identify and report any abnormalities or signs of oral diseases to the dentist.
  • Collaborate with the Dental Team: Collaborate with the dental team to ensure a smooth patient experience and coordinated care.
  • Maintain Infection Control: Uphold strict infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe dental environment.
  • Stay Updated on Developments: Stay updated on the latest developments in dental hygiene and attend continuing education courses as required.
Requirements
  • Dental Hygienist License: Current Dental Hygienist license issued by the Florida Board of Dentistry.
  • Degree in Dental Hygiene: Graduation from an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
  • Proficiency in Dental Cleanings: Proficient in performing dental cleanings, X-rays, and dental hygiene procedures.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively educate and interact with patients.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record patient information.
  • Dental Software Proficiency: Knowledge of dental software and computer skills for record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with Dental Equipment: Familiarity with dental equipment and tools, including X-ray machines and dental instruments.
  • Commitment to Confidentiality: Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and ethical standards in dental care.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR Certification: CPR certification.
  • Bilingual Proficiency: Bilingual proficiency with Spanish or Creole.
