Job Summary

SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to support a fast-paced work environment with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) Division in Middletown, RI. As a member of a collaborative team of engineers and support technicians, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and developing electrical systems for various applications, including undersea defensive systems, torpedo test equipment, Automated Test Equipment (ATE), sonar electronics, and other evolving tasking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and test electronic systems for embedded underwater applications, custom data acquisition systems, and automated test hardware for land-based testing of naval systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans for new designs and document results.
  • Design and document systems and circuits in OrCAD, Eagle, Visio, Altium, or PADS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets requirements.
  • Troubleshoot both large-scale systems and individual system components or larger-scale systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and five (5) years or more experience.
  • 5+ years in engineering design, analysis, and testing.
  • Electronic design in the area of test equipment, power electronics, amplifiers, filtering, signal conditioning, and/or high-speed digital.
  • Schematic entry using a schematic capture tool.
  • Experience creating technical data package quality drawings for electronic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand complex electrical and mechanical drawings along with their associated system level TDP.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting using test equipment to help isolate problems and ability to generate solutions.
  • Familiarity with System Engineering concepts.
  • Ability to interact directly with customers to extract requirements, generate a plan, and report status.
Clearance Requirement
  • Must be able to initially obtain an Interim Secret Clearance and then obtain and hold an Active Secret Clearance for the duration of work on the contract.
Desired Qualifications
  • PCB design with Mentor Graphics PADS Layout, Cadence OrCAD PCB Designer, Altium, or Eagle.
  • Experience with MATLAB, data manipulation, processing, and visualization.
  • FPGA experience using Vivado for Xilinx hardware (FPGAs, SOCs, MPSOCs etc.) or Quartus for Intel products in Verilog and VHDL.
  • Developing and executing test plans for electronic subsystems.
  • Experience with soldering and debugging circuits.
  • Hands-on lab experience using oscilloscopes, function generators, network analyzers, etc.
  • Experience with marine hardware including ROVs, UUVs, sonar, arrays, and transducers.
  • Familiarity with National Instruments products including PXI, LabView, or CVI.
