This is a full-time role that requires the ability to work Saturdays through Wednesdays. As a Livestock Farm Operations Specialist at Joe Jurgielewicz & Son, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the monitoring and care of developer birds at our Hegins facility.
Essential Job Functions- Egg Collection and Incubation: Collect, wash, and incubate eggs until hatching.
- Flock Care and Management: Feed and care for the flocks, ensuring their health and well-being.
- Animal Selection and Breeding: Select animals for breeding purposes, following established protocols.
- Facility Maintenance: Ensure the houses are clean and well-maintained, adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Emergency Response: Alert proper personnel in case of an issue, such as a sick animal or equipment malfunction.
- Data Collection and Entry: Collect and enter data using Microsoft Word and Excel, as required.
- Animal Tagging and Vaccination: Tag and vaccinate birds according to JJS veterinarian protocol.
- Research Trials: Collaborate with the Pedigree Farm Manager on external research trials, including weighing and CT scanning.
- Biosecurity Measures: Ensure proper biosecurity measures are being followed at all times.
- Other Assignments: Perform other assignments as assigned by management, while maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Experience with Poultry Environment: Exposure to managing in a poultry environment is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for this role.
- Certified Poultry Technician License: A valid CPT (Certified Poultry Technician) License is preferred.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Lifting and Moving: Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds alone and 80 pounds with assistance.
- Exposure to Hazards: Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and ammonia.
- Noise Level: Noise level may be loud at times.
