Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cytotechnologist to join our team at OSF HealthCare. As a Cytotechnologist, you will play a critical role in screening slides of clinical specimens for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in complex, technically specialized tasks involved in screening slides for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions.
  • Document findings and activities according to departmental terminology and protocols.
  • Perform routine quality control, participate in cellular evaluations for specimen adequacy, and provide procedural support as needed.
  • Assist with the technical oversight and direction of routine cytology processing procedures to ensure high-quality, diagnostic throughput in the department.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree with successful completion of a NAACLS accredited cytology program.
  • One year of laboratory experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include three years of full-time experience as a certified CT in a cytology laboratory.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Technical expertise necessary to interpret tests, recognize abnormal test results, and troubleshoot technical or equipment issues.
  • Analytical skills necessary to interpret and determine appropriate specimen preparation methods and evaluate suitability of slides and stains produced.
  • Ability to work on several projects at one time with good organizational skills, judgment, and technical skills.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals.
