As a Therapy Aide, you will work with male and female clients under level 5 supervision from the Delaware Department of Corrections, assisting and instructing individuals in therapy activities such as basic living skills, sensorimotor activities, psychosocial activities, or preparing for therapy treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist and/or instruct individuals in performing prescribed therapy treatments to improve their ability to perform daily living activities.
  • Provide instruction in the use of therapeutic equipment.
  • Observe and record an individual's progress in performing therapy activities.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to provide input in the development of an individual's treatment plan.
  • Maintain records, write reports, and requisition supplies and materials.
  • Ensure work area, equipment, and materials are clean.
  • May plan and organize trips to encourage and increase an individual's living skills development.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of conducting individual or group activities.
  • Knowledge of working with persons with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of applying laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of data collection, including collecting, compiling, and maintaining data from multiple sources.
  • Knowledge of record keeping.

Conditions of Hire

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative. Applicants must provide proof of negative Tuberculosis test within the last 12 months before start date. Pre-employment drug testing and a satisfactory criminal background check are also required.
