About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the bid/estimating process, from review of plans and specs to soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors/suppliers. They will perform quantity take-off, pricing, scoping, and bidding of construction projects involving complex trade packages and EPC work.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Solar Electrical System Design Support: Assist in the conceptual and detailed design of solar electrical systems.
  • Design Concept Challenge: Challenge design concepts and assumptions, presenting ideas to the Precon team.
  • Quantity Take-Offs: Perform quantity take-offs with precision.
  • Pricing and Bidding: Assist in the pricing and bidding of commercial, renewable, substation, and battery storage projects.
  • Electrical System Design Analysis: Support the team with overall electrical system design analysis.
  • Communication and Coordination: Communicate with engineers and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.
  • Qualifications and Assumptions: Prepare qualifications and assumptions that align with contractual project requirements.
  • Electrical Drawing Review: Conduct design reviews of electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and studies.
  • Site Visits and Inspections: Conduct site visits and inspections as necessary.
  • Milestone Document Reviews: Review milestone design documents to identify, develop, and price value alternative opportunities.
  • Internal Estimate Review: Actively participate in internal estimate review processes.
  • Bid Assembly: Assist with final assembly of estimates for presentation to clients.
  • Bid Information Management: Collect and organize all bid information for future reference.
  • Change Order Pricing: Aid field operations with change order pricing if needed.
  • Subcontractor Direction: Direct, coordinate, and provide information and documents to subcontractors.
  • Contractual Exhibits: Prepare contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts.
  • Contract Documents: Prepare and submit contract documents for legal and risk reviews.
  • Design Build and GMP Budgeting: Participate in Design Build, Hard Bid, and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids.
  • Relationship Building: Build relationships with subcontractors and vendors to obtain a competitive advantage.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Estimating Manager with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering and 2-5 years of equivalent experience.

  • General Knowledge of Electrical Principles: Possess general knowledge of electrical principles and processes.
  • Drawing and Specification Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • Negotiated Bids, Hard Bids, and GMP Processes: General knowledge of negotiated bids, hard bids, and GMP processes.
  • Estimating Technology and Tools: Working knowledge of estimating technology and tools such as OST, Accubid, Tra-ser, and BIM related software.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.
  • MATH and Analytical Skills: Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Communications: Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail at a high level.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
