JOB OVERVIEW:
ESR Healthcare is actively seeking dedicated and solution-focused individuals who excel in customer service for the role of Biomedical Equipment Specialist. This position is integral to supporting the healthcare technology services.
The primary responsibilities include ensuring the effective maintenance and operation of biomedical equipment.
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service and communication skills, along with robust technical expertise and a commitment to delivering high-quality repair services promptly.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should have:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the repair, maintenance, and calibration of clinical devices, including but not limited to OR equipment, anesthesia machines, and ventilators.
- Experience in a healthcare or hospital environment.
- The ability to make informed decisions regarding troubleshooting and repairing medical devices.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.
- Capability to perform preventative maintenance inspections.
- Proficiency in interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and illustrated parts drawings of biomedical instruments.
- Awareness of current regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of computer and server applications as they relate to medical equipment.
- Knowledge of color code conventions in component and wiring marking.
- Ability to maintain accurate records of repairs, calibrations, and tests.
- Familiarity with basic anatomy and physiology as it pertains to biomedical equipment usage.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the technical aspects of electronic equipment and its operation, repair, and maintenance.
SUPERVISION:
The individual will operate under the guidance of an Account Manager or Clinical Engineer and Clinical Engineering Supervisor.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Typical physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of equipment, push/pull equipment carts, and perform various physical activities during equipment repair.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Generally favorable working conditions. Potential hazards may include exposure to electrical shock, chemicals, and other risks associated with biomedical engineering work. Adherence to safety protocols and protective clothing is mandatory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoot, inspect, repair, maintain, and calibrate a wide range of clinical equipment and devices.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Provide advanced support for equipment utilized in direct patient care.
- Engage with clinical health providers to identify and resolve technology-related issues.
- Address organization-level customer service concerns and complaints.
- Prepare necessary documentation and reports.
- Exhibit a strong safety mindset.
- Manage financial responsibilities related to parts and service procurement.
- Contribute to staff development through teaching and mentoring.
