About the Job

Ryder is seeking a skilled and experienced diesel mechanic to join our team as a mobile diesel technician. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on our fleet of heavy-duty trucks.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including oil changes, brake and tire work, and other scheduled maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engines, including advanced skilled level repairs
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle systems, including air brakes, hydraulic brakes, and suspension
  • Perform tire and wheel maintenance, including tire pressure checks, tread depth inspections, and tire replacements
  • Utilize key functions of our Shop Management System and electronic documentation to perform work efficiently and accurately
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all service, safety, and environmental records required to meet and/or exceed corporate, federal, state, and local government mandated requirements
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred
  • Non-commercial driver's license, CLASS E, preferred
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL), CLASS A, preferred
  • Other state driver's license, as required
  • Two (2) years or more experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy-duty and medium-duty equipment

  • Competitive hourly pay rate, $27.00 per hour, based on experience, with a $2.00/hr weekend premium
  • All scheduled maintenance, with no on-call requirements
  • A typical 4-day work week schedule
  • Additional performance incentives paid every month
  • Mobile maintenance vehicle, fuel card, company tablet, and company cell phone provided
  • Sign-on bonus: $1250 paid after 30 days and $1250 paid after 90 days
