Meteorologist

KBOI/KYUU is seeking a skilled Meteorologist to present the weather forecast on our morning and midday newscasts. This individual will be responsible for creating engaging and informative weather content for our on-air and digital platforms. The successful candidate will also report on weather-related stories as needed.

Main Responsibilities:

Forecasting and producing clear and concise weather casts that tell a story and connect with viewers

Issuing warnings and alerts, producing graphics and maps, and reporting live during weather events

Utilizing social media during severe weather and writing weather stories

Making public appearances on behalf of the station as requested

Pitching weather-related story ideas

Requirements:

Ability to tell memorable and meaningful stories, with a focus on visual and compelling storytelling

Experience with active and visual live shots

Knowledge of forecasting and sharp news judgement

Exceptional writing skills and ability to multitask while meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
